Christopher

Christoph was born in 1956 in Oberdiessbach in the Emmental Valley. As a boy, he spent most of his time on the neighboring farm, often helping out out of interest. From the age of 12, orienteering and the associated competitions and training camps became a formative pastime for him. At 17, he founded an orienteering group with others, organized competitions, and drew orienteering maps.

His studies in mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich brought him to Zurich. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in biotechnology at Tokyo Institute of Technology thanks to a scholarship from the Japanese government.

He found professional challenges at companies in the Zurich Oberland region, including Chemap AG, Zellweger Uster AG, and Mettler Toledo AG. There, he worked for over 36 years with bioreactors, yarn clearers, automated laboratory reactors, and analytical instruments. He played a key role in the development of over 25 devices.

Asia has been his second home since his eight-month world trip in 1979 at the age of 23. Since then, he has felt especially at home in Japan, Korea, China, and, more recently, Vietnam.

As an active retiree, he has been taking care of service, purchasing, the website, accounting, tax returns and official matters for four years now.

He never got bored :-)!

More about us

Huyen (Hüjen)

Huyen was born in 1970 in Thanh Hoa, North Vietnam, under the hail of bombs during the final bombings of the Vietnam War. See Wikipedia under "Thanh Hóa Bridge." This bridge was hotly contested from 1968 to 1972 and is located just 5 km from Huyen's birthplace.

Just a few years later, the war with the Chinese continued. Vietnam was then one of the poorest countries in the world. Hunger and the explosion of a bomb in the neighborhood are the most formative memories of her early childhood.

Logically, many Vietnamese at that time sought their fortune abroad. This is how Huyen began working in a Russian textile factory at the tender age of 17.

She became a mother and then raised her two daughters in Russia, a foreign country to her. When things improved somewhat in Vietnam and hunger was no longer a major concern, she brought her daughters to live with their parents in Vietnam, where they then attended school.

However, Huyen stayed in Russia to support her children and parents financially. When the economic situation of Vietnamese people in Russia worsened due to Putin's reforms, she moved to Beijing and began working in restaurants.

When she visited Switzerland for the first time in 2016 while traveling through Europe, she fell in love with Switzerland... because everything was so clean and tidy!

She is a passionate cook and quite a perfectionist when it comes to cooking. She has already gained several years of experience as a chef in Beijing and Zurich and has proven herself to be an excellent cook.

Today she looks forward to welcoming her customers and showing off her culinary skills.

The now proud grandmother of four is happy that she can support her two daughters and her mother in Vietnam.
